Biografie

Carlos Giménez Martínez

Born in Benimodo, Spain. At the age of nine years old he starts his saxophone studies in Benimodo’s school of music with the teacher Abdón García Barberá. Later on, he continues his studies in the Carlet Conservatory of music, with Jose Berdier Ferrer, where he finishes his intermediate studies with the highest marks and wining several chamber music competitions with saxophone quartet.

In 2012, he pursues his Bachelor studies with Jose Garrido Antequera in Salvador Seguí conservatory of music, in Castelló, (Valencia) and also extending his studies in Groningen Prins Claus Conservatorium with the teacher Femke Ijilstra with erasmus scholarship. In 2016, he ends his studies at this music school with high marks. In 2015, he got a second prize and the audience prize at the saxophone international competition “Exigentia” in Italy. Also in 2015, he takes part of the 18th sesión and concert tour with the European unión youth wind orchestra (EUYWO) with the great conductor Jan Cober. In 2016, he got a second prize in the chinese international saxophone festival and competition.
In 2017 he begins his saxophone master studies with Arno Bornkamp in the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. During 2017/2018 he attends to saxophone international competitions, “Bertold Hummels saxophone competition” where he gets the third prize and “classic Wood winds international saxophone and clarinet competition” in Hamburg where within more than hundred musicians he achieves to be one of the six finalist.

During all these years he attends to masterclasses with the best teachers like Nobuya Sugawa, Jean Dennis Michat, Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Alain Crepain, Nikita Zimin and much more.
Currently he is doing the last year of the saxophone master program at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.
