Biografie

Ebeno Duo is een eclectische en enthousiaste kamermuziekgroep. Het wordt gevormd door de Ecuadoraanse klarinettist Erick Rojas en de Italiaanse harpiste Michela Zanoni.

De noodzaak en het plezier van het spelen met andere instrumenten bracht hen in 2019 samen tijdens hun studie aan het Conservatorium Van Amsterdam tijdens hun masteropleiding. Ze besloten een persoonlijk project te beginnen om Latijns-Amerikaanse en mediterrane muziek van het midden van de 19e tot de 20e eeuw te verkennen.

Hun repertoire omvat zowel klassieke muziek als folkloristische stukken die zijn beïnvloed door moderne muziek zoals werken van Piazzolla en Paquito D’Rivera, die ze hebben bewerkt voor klarinet en harp. Ze omarmen ook Spaanse folkloristische muziek van componisten als Albeniz en onderzoeken Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek uit verschillende regio’s. Het doel is om volksmuziek, zoals traditionele Andes- of mestiezenmuziek, te herstellen en over te brengen.

Michela en Erick hebben allebei veel muzikale interesses. In de afgelopen jaren hebben ze gewerkt in orkestmuziek, hedendaagse en interdisciplinaire projecten.

Erick heeft al een Master in Performance en specialiseert zich nu in historische klarinet en basklarinet en Carnatische muziek aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Michela zit momenteel in haar tweede jaar als masterstudent aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam en maakt deel uit van het Creative Performance Lab.

Erick en Michela zijn actieve musici en spelen in solorecitals en orkesten als NJO (Nationale Jeugdorkesten van Nederland), Holland Opera, Sweelinck Barokorkest, Young Netherlands Blazers Ensemble, het Mediterranean Youth Orchestra en het Young Musician Symphony Orchestra (VK).

Ebeno Duo is an eclectic and enthusiast chamber music group. It is formed by Ecuadorian clarinetist Erick Rojas and Italian harpist Michela Zanoni.

The necessity and joy of playing with other instruments brought them together in 2019 while studying at Conservatorium Van Amsterdam during their Master degree. They decided to embark on a personal project to explore Latin American and Mediterranean music from the mid XIX to the XX century.

Their repertoire includes classical music as well as folkloric pieces influenced by modern music like in Piazzolla and Paquito D’Rivera, that they have adapted for clarinet and harp. They also embrace Spanish folkloric music by composers like Albeniz and are looking into Latin American music of different regions. Its intention is to recover and transmit folk music such as traditional Andean or mestizo music.

Michela and Erick have both many musical interests. In the last years they have been working in orchestral music, contemporary and interdisciplinary projects.

Erick has already a Master degree in performance and he is now specialising in historical clarinet and bass clarinet as well as Karnatic music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Michela is currently in her second year as a MA student at Conservatorium van Amsterdam and she is part of the Creative Performance Lab profile.

Erick and Michela are active musicians and play in solo recitals and orchestras like NJO (Nationale Jeugdorkesten of the Netherlands), Holland Opera, Sweelinck Baroque Orchestra, Young Netherlands Blazers Ensemble, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra and the Young Musician Symphony Orchestra (UK).
