Genesis Ensemble

Strijkerssextet met contrabas en cello in plaats van twee cello's

In de Oosterkerk:

Biografie

The « Genesis Ensemble » was founded by Pierre-Antoine Blanc and Laurène Baron in 2015 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Because of the lack of chamber music pieces for double bass, they decided to make their own arrangements and, on Pierre-Antoine Blanc’s initiative, to include the instrument in the ensemble.

First as a quintet, they performed the string quintet No.1 “Genesis” by Lucio Franco Amanti – who kindly allowed them to arrange his original piece with double bass. The ensemble was then named after the string quintet.

They performed many times in Amsterdam, Oosterkerk, Classical Tour in the Oude Kerk of Spaarndam etc

Now a sextet, they are involved in many new projects.

The sextet is composed of Deniz Ispir, Laurène Baron (violin); Julien Praud, Alkistis Missouli (viola); Amke te Wies (cello); and Pierre-Antoine Blanc (double bass).
