Grimm Duette

In de Oosterkerk:

Biografie

The Grimm Duette, consisting of violinists Natalie Kulina and Francisca Portugal, has been devoted to musical storytelling since it’s formation in 2017. Coming from Czech Republic and Portugal, respectively, they met during their studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Each individually an experienced soloist and chamber musician already, they bonded over a shared sense of humour and feeling for music, and alongside a strong friendship they have built a successful musical collaboration, performing many concerts in the Netherlands and Czech Republic, appearing in larger projects or recording studios together, as a strong team.

Their specialty is looking for hidden connections and random coincidences in music, history and life in general: combining existing repertoire from across the musical eras and genres, and arranging their own versions of famous violin virtuoso pieces or even symphonic works, with the aim to present a large spectrum of classical music repertoire anywhere and at any time.
